Few days ago I have visited my aunt`s home. After few minutes casual talk she started explaining me about her faith in a religion other than her parents religion and she asked me to follow the same new faith. I said I am also an atheist but I am not a fanatic, I am a bit liberal and I dont say that only the GOD whom I worship alone is true and all other GODs are fake. I told I believe in a supreme being and I love to imagine him in a certain form. She still tried to pursuade me, i did not argue much with her, but I am sharing with you all the doubts which flashed in my mind when I sat with her.
I will start with BUDDHA, the light of Asia. He was not happy with his state of mind after seeing a patient, an old man, a corpse etc., BUDDHA started thinking of the purpose of life and reason for miseries... the studied other religions... philosophy etc. Roamed extensively but still he did not find satisfactory answer and ultimately he concluded that DESIRE is reason for all misery. BUDDHA did not belive in GOD but he remained as an agnostic. BUDDHA preached his kowledge never said that he himself is a GOD. Infact he was against worship of a personality.
what I want to say is after knowing the ultimate truth he discarded GOD. he never preached about any god he only preached some new principle in which GOD does not have any place.
(BUDDHISM speaks of heaven and Buddhists worship BUDDHA as AMITHABA, The head of heaven, But actually buddha never talked about heaven and he was against such type of worship. His desciple added that to BUDDHISM in later days.
We come to ASHOKA, the great mauryan ruler. After Kalinga war Ashoka`s mind was filled with agony. He started preaching some new principles. some say that Ashoka preached Buddhism, but Ashoka preached DAMMA. The content of his pillar inscriptions is his own ideas which are called as Damma. So in this context also no place for any religion. Ashoka only preached compassion, tolerance etc. (He talked about heaven but he did that only to make people to stick to good way of life)
Next AKBAR, The great Mughul ruler. AKBAR was not happy with the domination of ULEMA of his times who interpreted ISLAM and SHARIA in different ways at different times. In fact they interpreted in such a way that it should serve their purpose. Akbar was not happy with that and he build a big building called IBADATH KHAANA and held religious discussions with the heads of different sects of Islam. The heads fought among themselves and never had consensus. so akbar called the champions of other religions and held discussions. Ultimately AKBAR realised that truth is not the sole property of any one religion and all religions are equal. Akbar founded a new society called sul- i-kul, (or SUL-I-KUL as its main principle). Akbar also not propogated any one religion. He also preached compassion etc good ideas.
All these people after attaining some knowledge became liberal.
During 6th c. B.C. 62 heterodox sects in India got their own ideas about life and religion which were different form the existing religions. Sufi saints go their own way with in Islam, Bhakti saints got their own way with in Hinduism.
Recently I have attend SIDDHA SAMAADHI YOGA classes. During the course along with some 300 people I spent 2 and half days with a special person whom we called GURUJI. GURUJI does not preach about any particular religion. He preaches a particular way of life with all good deeds and stressing more on positive thinking and positive imagination. on the third day we all had to leave GURUJI and leave for our places. During the 3 days we had to go through some tough life style. waking up long before sunrise and whole day doing praana yaama, yoga, meditation and monastery work. 2 times a day they give us just a hand full of raw vegetables. ispite of the scanty food and hard work, we never felt hungry or tired. Third day, time to leave GURUJI. suddenly my heart filled with some sort of unhappiness and and eyes were filled with
tears. I wanted moved away few feet from that place
before other people see my emotion. Strangely I
found all the people in the same situation.
Everybody`s eyes filled with tears and some started
crying already. That was a great and excellent
experience. we all were not able to leave our
GURUJI. (his graceful soul attracted all of us
somuch) (here people of all religions came). Our
lives changed, we felt that we got some new power
and we always looked happy after coming back form
that monastey.
After coming back from the monastery I shared my
experience with some people... then i found that
some people in other such monasteries
(congregations) or places like that also had
similar experineces. Then I realised that all other
faiths also give same other worldy happiness. Then
I remembered tha when I was writing an article on
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa I had similar experience.
My mind was filled with some sort of power... (It
lasted for few days as I became busy with other
works)
During my talk with my aunt I understood that she
had great struggle in her mind and ultimately found
some solace in the new faith.I wanted to tell her
that she can find the same solace in all other
religions.. but i did not tell her because she
stays alone in her big house and now she is
feeling that she is not alone and GOD is with her
always. So I did not want to disturb her peace of
mind with my argument. what ever the truth may be
but she is happy with her present state of mind and
belief.
During the course of our discussion to make me
accept that GOD exists she posed a question "is man
able to create blood?" In news papers I read that
doctors created a new type of blood in pigs and
using it for human beings. but knowing that that is
not the exact answer for her question I kept quite,
infact I said "no". I know that her question is
deeper and tricky and my answer only gives room for
more question.
She also asked where our soul goes after death? how
our life starts? who gives life. how our
consciousness is formed? If the consciousness is
some jyothi.. where all the feelings go after her
demise? What happens to her consciousness... the
feeling of "me"? If transmigration of soul is
there hundreds of years ago we had less
population(means less souls) Is the number of souls
limited? The answer is no. because population has
been increasing. But people say that still some
soul take birht agian. so multiplication taking
place. How these many individual consciousness and
personalities are formed? As the knowledge about
life and death, soul, life after death is still not
even `1% satisfactory. The fate of consciousness
after death is stil a mystery. At this point we
accept the existence of GOD and attribute all that
to GOD`S creation and his miracle. Albert Einstein
also opined that some supernatual supreme being
exists.
Ofcouse some supernatural things happen. Ofcourse
some supernatual things happen. In one of
vivekananda`s books I read that physical pain is
just an imaginary thing and we can conquer the
pain. I practiced it and now body pearcing does not
pain me much. There are some other people who
reached the top level. On National Geography
channel I a person what desplayed who has been
meditation since last ten months. Ram Bahadur
Bamjom, a 16-year-old boy started meditating under
the peepal tree. In The Bara District Ram, famous
as the Buddha Boy or the Little Buddha or the
Meditating Boy stayed there meditating for about 10
months “without eating”.
one more example....
June 11, 1963, Thich Quang Duc, a Buddhist monk from Vietnam, burned himself to death at a busy intersection in downtown Saigon to bring attention to the repressive policies of the Catholic Diem regime that controlled the South Vietnamese government at the time. Buddhist monks asked the regime to lift its ban on flying the traditional Buddhist flag, to grant Buddhism the same rights as Catholicism, to stop detaining Buddhists and to give Buddhist monks and nuns the right to practice and spread their religion.
While burning Thich Quang Duc never moved a muscle.

If JESUS CHRIST alone exists why BRUNEI SULTAN was
the richest person in the world for quite a long
time?
If ALLAH alone exists then why Hindus were the
richest for somany centuries till the advent of
Britishers to India. What he was doing when people
in Arabian countries were living in anarchy before
the advent of PROPHET MOHAMMAD for so many
centuries?
IF 3 crore HINDU GODs and ALLAH Exist what they
were doing when Indian were suffering due to the
wicked policies of Britishers? GOD must come in a
person`s life time to free him from fufferings and
punish the evil does who were reason for the
sufferings. But he has not come. Britishers played
with our lives for about 200 years and during the
period atleast minimum 4 generations suffered. Why
GOD has not come when the 1st generation was
suffering. And why Jesus did not stop the
britishers from doing such atrocities? we believe
that SAI baba is a GOD, SAI BABA was there when
Britishers imposing somany atrocities on Hindhus
and muslim, why he did not stop the BRitishers?
what God is doing when people in so many
countries, especially African countries are
starving to death?
If there are some unsolved questions to make us
believe that GOD exists at the same tiime there are
some unsolved problems for which GOD is not giving
any solution to prove his existence. Existence of
GOD is just an imaginary thing and people should
not get divided for the imaginary things.
What GOD was doing when AMERICANs droping bombs on
JAPAN? what GOD was doing during BHOPAL gas
tragedy? what GOD WAS DOING during nayanadevi
temple stampede? was not that happend before GOD`s
eyes?
what GOD was doing when large number of people lost
their lives due to recent Earth quakes and
tsunamis?
If GOD really exists why some people are born with
mental and physical handicaps?
mullah omer, kanchi kamakoti shankaracharya, k.a.
paul... this type of people are guidning us.
K.A.Paul offered food and medicine to the Tsunami
victims only incase they accept his religion. The
Tsunami victims rejected his offer. Most of the
people accepted his as the champion of their
religions and now they realsied his calibre when he
entered in to politics and started talking about
other things than religion.
The people like BUDDHA, ASHOKA and AKBAR who studied extensively about all religions and never asked their followers to follow one particular religion. They set them free. Behaved most generously and there is no room for GOD in their preachings. All these people preached only compassion.

Thank you for your post and thoughts. After my experience in the Vietnam war, I came to doubt all human concepts of ''God.'' I know there is something greater than us in this universe, but to me it is a great mystery, and I don't think it cares very much about about life as it exists on earth. There is great violence in the cosmos (the creation of stars etc.) just as their is great violence on earth (human, animal, geological etc.). There is also great beauty everywhere on earth and in space. I think the law of karma is valid. I think our human consciousness disappears with the death of our bodies. So perhaps the life on earth is just some sort of cosmic experiment. Now I live to help others, to relieve suffering is some small way. That's all. Best regards, yhowj7@yahoo.com
